About

We turn operator intuition into business infrastructure.

An AI product studio for messy jobs.

Every community runs on contractors, crews and service businesses. And most, run on the owner’s memory and connections.

We build the tools and teach you to think like a product builder, so what you know becomes something you own: systems your team runs without you, know-how that compounds, and a business someone would buy.

What we believe

Five things we believe.

The principles everything else is built on.

  • 01.

The real economy runs on operators.

The companies that hold communities together are trades, service firms, and owner-led businesses. Not apps. Not platforms. The people who built something real and still answer for it. That's who this work is for.

  • 02.

    Strategy first. Tools second. Always.

A tool applied to a broken process just breaks faster. We find the constraint before we touch anything else. That's true whether the tool is a new hire, a workflow, or AI.

  • 03.

Most "AI" just creates more work.

There's a reason your team isn't using the thing someone sold you. AI works when it's dropped into the right step of the right process, not bolted onto the outside of a broken one. Where you apply it determines whether it earns its place or just spins.

  • 04.

Operator intuition is the asset. Systems protect it.

Owner judgement built this business. The problem isn't instincts. It's that they only work when that person is in the room. The job is to prove what you already know, so the business can act on it without key person risk.

  • 05.

    Operational excellence beats financial engineering.

You don't need financial engineering to win. Build tight systems, retain your customers, run real margin, and you'll outperform the smoke-and-mirrors roll-up down the street, without gutting the soul of the thing.

The founder

Hi, I'm Cris.

From the Bloomberg newsroom to the systems behind Uber, to the job site.

Cris Valerio, founder of Main Street Operator

From the Bloomberg and NPR newsrooms to the systems behind Uber and Instacart, I've spent my career studying how things break and how to make them work. Turns out the most interesting problems aren't in Silicon Valley.

They're on job sites, in family-owned warehouses, in the back offices of drywall companies.

I built Main Street Operator because most of what gets sold as AI creates more work than it solves. I know where it earns its place inside a real operation, and where it's just noise dressed up as a demo.

15+ years building at Uber, Instacart and IDEO. Based in Truckee, working with operators across the United States.
